SQL Data Engineer – Initial 6-month contract

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a SQL Data Engineer with a strong analytical mindset and data architecture experience to design and build a trigger driven data platform. This role supports operations by developing scalable pipelines, real-time data processing, and triggers.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build SQL data models that enable

  • High-volume trigger logic (e.g., 200+ triggers per user)

  • Mandatory/optional risk checks

  • Data and trigger evaluations

  • Architect the data model and establish corresponding table schemas

  • Design and implement ETL pipelines for ingesting behavioral data, third-party feeds, and transactional logs.

  • Develop stored procedures, views, and validation layers to support compliance alerting and reporting.

  • Collaborate with BI, DevOps, and internal teams to align technical output with workflows.

  • Maintain data quality through null checks, anomaly detection, and transformation best practices.

Knowledge:

  • Experience with real-time streaming tools (Kafka, Kinesis, Debezium)

  • Familiarity with Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or dbt

  • Power BI or equivalent for reporting and dashboard integration

  • Essential Skills:

  • Advanced SQL (T-SQL) and stored procedure development

  • ETL tool experience – preferably Azure Data Factory or SSIS

  • Analytical brain with the ability to interpret and model complex data

  • Solid experience in data architecture design

  • Proficiency in ETL validation tools

  • Database: SQL Server

  • ETL & Orchestration: SSIS, Python, Azure Data Factory

  • Streaming (Optional): Kafka, Kinesis

  • Reporting: Power BI

  • Validation: Python scripting (nice to have), SQL integrity checks

Essential Qualities:

  • Desire to think out of the box and investigate new approaches/technologies to achieve the required goals.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

  • Communication with key contacts and business areas is vital.
